Photos from the event show the noose symbol displayed prominently across multiple cakes at a gathering for Ben-Gvir’s birthday.

Israel Police brass and Israel Prison Service, alongside some of Israel’s most prominent ultranationalist activists, attended the celebration.

During the celebration, Ben-Gvir's wife, Ayala, presented him with a cake featuring an image of a golden noose and the words "Sometimes dreams come true." Ben-Gvir also wore a pin depicting a noose.

In March, the Israeli Knesset passed a death penalty law targeting Palestinian detainees, while excluding Israeli settlers. The move, which effectively formalizes a long-standing policy of “extrajudicial execution under the guise of law,” has been widely condemned by human rights groups and several countries with hanging seen as the intended method.

It was pushed by Ben-Gvir as one of the main conditions of his Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) party’s coalition agreement with Netanyahu. Ben-Gvir was seen celebrating with champagne in the parliamentary chamber.

The law applies specifically to Palestinian hostages and detainees accused of committing alleged attacks described as “nationally or security motivated.” It does not include Zionists who killed native Palestinians, making it a law that is racially discriminatory.

Officially, Israel now plans to carry out executions within its infamous detention camps. Around 10,000 Palestinian hostages and detainees, including over 60 women and 350 children, remain in Israeli jails and detention centers, most of them political detainees.

Countries, including Britain, France, Germany and Italy expressed “deep concern” over the legislation, which they said risked “undermining Israel’s commitments with regards to democratic principles”.
