Tehran (QNN)- Iran has issued a firm warning over the future of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the key waterway will not remain open under the continued US blockade and pressure campaign. Tehran stressed that passage through the strategic strait depends on authorized routes approved by Iran, not external political demands.
The warning came alongside strong political remarks from Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s parliament speaker, who directly challenged recent statements by former US President Donald Trump. In a post on social media, Ghalibaf said Trump made seven separate claims in a single hour, and he insisted that all seven were false.
Ghalibaf said the US has already failed to achieve its goals through war and pressure, and he added that Washington will also fail if it continues its current approach in negotiations. He said the US strategy is built on misinformation and political pressure rather than facts or realistic diplomacy.
Iran’s message focused heavily on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy transit routes. Ghalibaf warned that continued pressure and attempts at blockade would directly affect maritime stability. He said the waterway will not stay open under conditions of confrontation and coercion.
He added that maritime movement in the strait must follow “designated routes” and operate under Iranian authorization.
Ghalibaf also rejected the idea that social media statements or political messaging from abroad can define the reality on the ground. He said decisions about the Strait of Hormuz do not come from online platforms or political slogans. Instead, he emphasized that field conditions and regional dynamics determine the rules of engagement.
He said information campaigns and attempts to shape public perception form a key part of the confrontation with the United States. However, he insisted that the Iranian population remains unaffected by the US manipulation tactics.
In the same vein, Iranian state television quoted the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense as saying that the Strait of Hormuz remains open only under a ceasefire and within specific conditions. The statement added that the strait is open in principle, but vessels linked to hostile powers do not have the right to pass through it.
