During the two-year genocide, Israeli attacks targeted several Christian places of worship where many displaced Palestinians were taking shelter.

Gaza (QNN)- For the first time, Gaza Strip’s Christians celebrated Christmas without the immediate threat of Israeli bombardment amid a ceasefire signed in October. However, Israel continues to violate the ceasefire, killing civilians and blocking aid.

Christians in Gaza embraced the holiday spirit, lighting up trees and passing out sweets.

During the two-year genocide, Israeli attacks targeted several Christian places of worship where many displaced Palestinians were taking shelter.

The Catholic Church said only around 600 Christians remain in Gaza after the Israeli assault from a total of 1,700 before October 7, 2023.

Many spent most of the assault living in the Holy Family Church compound, the only Catholic church in the Strip, beacuse their homes were destroyed by Israeli forces. Around 400 still live there now.

While the world considers the Israeli genocide to be over, Gazans said this Christmas is overshadowed by the assault amid a fragile ceasefire that has been violated repeatedly by Israel.
