Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered a halt to the investigation of Israeli soldiers, whi carried out field executions of two Palestinian men.
He said the army must stop investigating soldiers who shoot what he called “terrorists.”
Ben-Gvir made the comments during a visit to an Israeli army unit in the occupied West Bank.
He urged officers to stop using this procedure.
He also called for changes to the army’s open-fire rules and the legal policy for handling field incidents that involve Palestinians.
Israeli Army Radio claimed that the military police opened an investigation into three soldiers from an undercover unit.
They are suspected of unlawful gunfire and killing two Palestinians in Jenin.
The Israeli news site Walla reported that military sources confirmed the initial findings.
The sources said the two Palestinians who were killed in Jenin walked out of a building unarmed. They intended to surrender.
Earlier, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights called for a deep investigation into the “apparent summary execution.”
It said Israeli forces carried out the killing on Thursday in the occupied West Bank while the two Palestinian men were trying to surrender.
