Settlers install surveillance cameras at Bethlehem’s water springs

Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Gush Etzion installed surveillance cameras in the vicinity of water springs in southern Bethlehem.

The cameras are intended to record everything in the area on a 24-hour basis for “security reasons”.

A statement by the settlement council of Gush Etzion said installing the cameras comes because “the water springs are located in isolated places, far from the settlement units.” It added that “no cell phone networks cover the area around the springs.”

The cameras are supposed to record on a 24-hour basis. They will offer a live feed for a monitoring room at the illegal settlement. The cameras would also include a speaker, enabling them to inform settlers of any dangers.

In total, 10 cameras will be eventually installed in a variety of West Bank springs.
