Settler rams car into a Palestinian, flees scene
Bethlehem (QNN) – A Palestinian man was injured and moved to hospital on Monday evening after an Israeli settler rammed his car into him and fled the scene on the Jerusalem-Hebron road, just outside the illegal settlement of Gush Etzion in the southern occupied West Bank.
Head of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society Mohammad Awad told official WAFA news agency that Hamza Shehadeh Najajra, a citizen of Nahalin village was run over by an Israeli settler on a section of route 60 connecting Jerusalem with illegal Gush Etzion settlement.
Najajra suffered from a critical injury in the head and was rushed to a hospital in Jerusalem for medical treatment.
Attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians are a relatively regular occurrence in the occupied West Bank, and are rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Israeli police usually treat such attacks as accidents, even in cases when witnesses claim the ramming attacks were deliberate.
Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
