Served 2 yrs. in Israeli army: Gal Gadot to play Evil Queen in Disney Snow White remake
Israeli actress Gal Gadot is in the final negotiations to be cast as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White remake, as reported Wednesday by online industry site Deadline.
Gadot, who plays the main character in Wonder Woman, will play the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White remake.
The classic Disney cartoon Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937 and is regarded as one of the greatest animated features of all time.
It was Disney’s first full-length animated movie and was a huge success. The new version will add to the story and also feature some new music.
However, Godat served two years of mandatory military service in the Israeli army and her time there has stirred up controversy in the past.
She once shared a message of support for the Israeli occupation forces on her Facebook page during Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip in 2014, which saw at least 2,200 Palestinians killed, 20,000 homes destroyed and up to 500,000 Gaza residents displaced.
In 2017, Lebanon banned Wonder Woman from cinemas, because it was played by an Israeli actress.
The Lebanese interior ministry banned the film hours before its release, on a recommendation from the General Security directorate.
