Senior Hamas Official to Quds News: Reports on Qatar and Movement’s Doha Office are Propaganda War

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- In an exclusive statement to Quds News Network, Mahmoud Mardawi, a senior leader in Hamas, dismissed circulating media reports about Qatar and the group’s office in Doha as part of a propaganda war.

Mardawi emphasized that these reports are aimed at undermining the morale of the resistance’s supporters. He noted that Hamas is making every effort to halt the ongoing massacres, starvation, and displacement of Palestinians. He revealed that Israel had backtracked on the July 2 agreement, which was brokered with mediators and initially approved by Israeli officials. This deal, according to Mardawi, represented a significant opportunity to end the genocide, addressing all key challenges. The recent dismissal of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, coupled with his statements, serves as a testament to the validity of Hamas’s narrative, Mardawi stated.

Meanwhile, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs also refuted reports concerning Hamas’s office in Doha. In a statement, the ministry clarified that the primary role of the Hamas office is to serve as a communication channel between relevant parties.

“The main goal of the of the office in Qatar is to be a channel of communication between the concerned parties, and this channel has contributed to achieving a ceasefire in previous stages, and contributed to maintaining calm in the Strip in the lead to exchanging hostages and detainees of women and children in
November of last year, stressing in this context the need to obtain information from its official sources, the statement added.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry also addressed allegations of Qatar withdrawing from mediating a ceasefire in Gaza, stating these reports were inaccurate.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari noted that Qatar had informed the involved parties ten days ago, during the latest round of negotiations, that it would suspend its mediation efforts if no agreement was reached. However, he confirmed that Qatar remains committed to resuming its role if serious efforts are made to end the brutal war and alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Al-Ansari emphasized that Qatar will not allow its mediation efforts to be exploited, especially since the collapse of the initial truce and the first prisoner exchange deal revealed ongoing manipulation, particularly in justifying the war for narrow political interests.
