Second Child Dies of Hunger in Gaza Today as Israeli-Made Famine Deepens
Gaza (Quds News Network)- A second Palestinian child died of starvation on Saturday in Gaza, as the Israeli-made hunger crisis tightens its grip on the besieged enclave. Nasser Hospital confirmed the death of Yahya Al-Najjar, a young boy from Khan Younis, due to severe malnutrition. His death marks the second documented hunger-related child fatality in Gaza today alone. Earlier in the day, 35-day-old infant Jawad Al-Anqar died at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Yahya is now the 71st child to lose his life to starvation since the beginning of the genocide. The Health Ministry said the Strip is going through a real famine, fueled by a sharp shortage of basic food, lack of clean water, and collapsing medical services. Health workers have recorded a dramatic rise in deaths caused by hunger and acute malnutrition in recent weeks. The ministry also warned of daily massacres near US-Israeli ‘aid distribution centers’, which have become dangerous due to repeated Israeli attacks. Nasser Hospital reported receiving 32 dead since dawn Saturday, in addition to dozens of wounded, many of them struck while trying to reach food near US-Israeli so-called ‘aid points’ in southern Gaza. Officials called the situation a catastrophic health emergency, urging the international community to intervene immediately. UNRWA said it has enough food to feed Gaza’s population for over three months, but the aid is still stuck in warehouses, awaiting clearance to enter. Much of it remains stored in Egypt’s El-Arish. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry reported that dozens of people are fainting in the streets of the besieged strip. The Government Media Office in Gaza issued a desperate appeal, demanding the opening of safe humanitarian corridors, the lifting of the blockade, and the depoliticization of aid. It warned that Gaza is facing a deliberate starvation campaign and called for urgent investigations into the use of hunger as a weapon of war. “651 days of genocide and blockade have made Gaza a land of famine,” the statement read. The Health Ministry concluded: “If the silence continues, more children will die. Gaza is starving, and the world must act now.”
