Saudi Arabia transfers Hamas representative from prison to hospital

Riyadh (QNN)- Member of the political bureau of Hamas, Muhammad Nazzal, said Tuesday that representative of the movement in Saudi Arabia Muhammad Khodari, who was has been detained in Saudi jails, was evacuated to hospital.

Nazzal said in a tweet that Saudi authorities transferred Khodari from Dhahaban jail in Jeddah to a public hospital in Mecca to be treated from a serious illness.

Nazzal did not provide any further information on the situation of Khodari or any of Hamas members detained by Saudi authorities.

Meanwhile, political and family sources revealed that Saudi authorities have detained businessman and Hamas official Abu Obaida Agha in Dhahaban jail.

According to Al Khaleej newspaper, Abu Obaida is the son of one of Hamas founders, Khairi Agha, who has passed away in Saudi Arabia for natural reasons in 2014.

Sources said that “Agha is a Hamas official in Saudi Arabia. He is Saudi a citizen and there is no explanation for detaining him in Saudi jails”.

The United States Treasury said back in September 2015 that Agha heads Hamas’s finance committee in Saudi Arabia.

Head of Zaitounah Centre for Studies and Consultancy, Muhsen Saleh, stressed that Saudi authorities has been detaining Agha for over one year and half without providing any information on the reasons why he was detained.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia is detaining 60 Palestinians without any charges and denies their families basic information on them.

Hamas revealed last week that Saudi authorities detained Hamas official, Muhammad Khodari (81 years old) and his son.
