Sad mourners take part in funeral of Palestinian teenager killed by Israeli forces in Nablus

Nablus (QNN)- Hundreds of Palestinian mourners participated today in the funeral procession of 16-year-old Ghaith Yameen who was killed in the vicinity of Joseph’s Tomb in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus by Israeli forces earlier on Wednesday.

Making him the 12th Palestinian child killed by Israeli forces in 2022, Israeli occupation forces shot Ghaith in the head and killed him near Joseph’s Tomb, earlier today at around 1:15 am, while they were escorting colonial settlers to the Tomb.

Colonial Israeli settlers, protected by well-armed soldiers, stromed the Tomb early on Wednesday and were confronted by Palestinian residents who rejected their presence and storming of the city.

The Israeli forces violently dispersed the Palestinian residents by firing live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and teargas canisters intensively and directly towards them, injuring at least 80 people, according to Palestinian medics.

19 of the injuries were caused by rubber-coated metal bullets, medics noted, and 67 suffered from suffocation after inhaling tear gas.

Stressing the need “to deter the occupation and hold it accountable for its heinous crimes,” the Palestinian education ministry also condemned Israel’s killing of the teen.

On Saturday, Israeli forces also killed 17-year-old Palestinian Amjad al-Fayed during a military raid into the Jenin refugee camp as they shot him in the neck and chest.

Since the start of this year, Israeli forces have killed over 50 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including veteran journalist of Al Jazeera Shireen Abu Akleh.
