Rights Group Warns of Mass Starvation and Thirst Facing 400,000 Native Palestinians Amid Israeli Siege in Gaza

Geneva (Quds News Network)- A Geneva-based human rights organization has raised the alarm over the imminent threat of mass starvation and thirst facing nearly 400,000 native Palestinians in Gaza and northern parts of the enclave. The warning comes as Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza enters its tenth day, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis caused by the long-standing siege.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med) reported that Israeli forces have cut off all supplies of food, water, and essential goods to Palestinians north of Wadi Gaza for several weeks, pushing the region’s population to the brink of survival. The group emphasized that approximately 200,000 residents in the northern areas of Gaza, including Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia, have had no access to food or water for ten consecutive days due to the siege and relentless military attacks.
In a statement, Euro-Med highlighted the tragic fate of Palestinian civilians who sought aid from a UNRWA food distribution center in Jabalia amid intense hunger. Israeli forces targeted the center with drone strikes and artillery shells, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 40 others. Many of the victims’ bodies remain in the streets, as ongoing bombardments prevent their transport to hospitals.
Euro-Med condemned Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war, accusing the occupation state of intentionally inflicting living conditions aimed at the destruction of Gaza’s Palestinian population. The organization described the situation as one of the largest-scale crimes of mass starvation in modern history.
“Those who survive Israel’s bombs are being killed by hunger and thirst,” the statement said, adding that the lack of food in the northern cities of Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun is particularly severe. Thousands of residents in these areas have reportedly run out of all food supplies, leaving them defenseless against the blockade.
For the past ten days, Israeli forces have been conducting an aggressive military operation in northern Gaza, imposing a total blockade that prevents the entry of food, water, or fuel while launching constant airstrikes. Israel has been attempting to forcibly displace the population from northern Gaza to the south as part of a larger strategy to depopulate and occupy the region.
Since the start of Israel’s military campaign over a year ago, which has been supported by the United States, more than 140,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured, most of them women and children. Additionally, over 10,000 Palestinians remain missing. The ongoing assault has resulted in widespread destruction and famine, claiming the lives of countless children and elderly individuals in what is being described as a modern-day genocide.
