Resistance Neutralizes High-Ranking Israeli Officer Who Led Attacks on Al-Shifa Hospital and Other Atrocities
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Israeli army has confirmed that its highest-ranking officer in Gaza, Colonel Ehsan Daqsa, commander of the elite 401st Armored Brigade, was neutralized during a battle in Jabalia, northern Gaza. Another officer was severely injured in the same incident. Daqsa was killed when an explosive device targeted his tank in Jabalia, according to Israeli military sources.
Colonel Daqsa, a prominent figure in the Israeli military, had led all major ground operations in Gaza, including assaults on Al-Shifa Hospital, the Zaytoun neighborhood, Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Rafah. His death marks a significant blow to the Israeli army, as he is the highest-ranking Israeli officer to be killed in the ongoing conflict.
Israeli media reported a serious security incident in Gaza before confirming Daqsa’s death. His tank, along with another, was hit by an explosive device, leading to his fatal injury.
Al Jazeera cited military and security expert Osama Khaled as saying that Daqsa was directly targeted in close combat, calling it a “remarkable operational achievement” for the Al-Qassam Brigades in northern Gaza. Khaled emphasized that this successful operation demonstrates Al-Qassam’s ability to control the battlefield and select high-value targets.
Reports suggest that other senior Israeli officers may have also been present during the attack, indicating that the strike may have targeted a high-level leadership meeting known as a “commander reconnaissance.”
The 401st Armored Brigade, part of the 162nd Division under the Southern Command, is one of Israel’s most powerful armored units, operating advanced Merkava Mk 4 and Merkava Barak tanks. This brigade has been at the forefront of the Gaza invasion, participating in several key battles and leading critical operations across northern Gaza.
As one of the first units to enter Gaza in late October 2024, the 401st Brigade played a pivotal role in the siege of Gaza City and current ethnic cleansing.
