Reservist Crisis Disrupts Israel’s Plans to Resume Gaza Genocide, Report

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- The Israeli army is facing an unprecedented crisis as many reservists refuse to report for duty. A report by Haaretz revealed that nearly half of reservists in some units have not responded to call-ups. This decline in participation disrupts Israel’s ability to resume the genocide in Gaza.

Military correspondent Amos Harel of Haaretz revealed estimates from the Israeli army indicating that half of the reservists in some units have not reported for duty recently. Meanwhile, the military is attempting to hide the issue, as recent polls show that 70% of the Israeli public opposes resuming military operations.

The analysis highlights a deep crisis facing the Israeli army for the first time. There is a growing risk that some reservists will not report for duty if the government decides to resume the genocide.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich dismissed concerns about the crisis, urging reservists to prepare for more deployments. However, military analysts suggest that political leaders are out of touch with the growing reluctance among soldiers.

Israel is also dealing with a new American diplomatic move. The U.S. has reportedly opened secret backchannel talks with Hamas through President Donald Trump’s envoy, Adam Boehler.

Harel notes, “Trump still hopes for a deal. He threatens Hamas with military action but does not rule out negotiations.” The U.S. plan reportedly aligns with the Egyptian proposal discussed in Cairo last week. It includes a ceasefire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the return of all Israeli prisoners, and Gaza’s reconstruction under a technocratic Palestinian government.
