Republicans introduce bill to deny federal funding for Amnesty International
Washington (QNN)- Republican Senators Rick Scott and Mike Braun on Thursday introduced a bill designed to deny federal financial support for Amnesty International. In February, the leading rights group released a report saying ‘Israel’ is carrying out “the crime of apartheid against Palestinians.” Amnesty’s report details how ‘Israel’ enforces a system of oppression and domination against the Palestinians. Over its report, the Senators introduced their bill to prohibit Amnesty from receiving taxpayer-funded federal assistance from the US. In a press release, the Senators said Amnesty has received more than $2.5 million in federal funds over the past two decades. It "has proven itself to be a sham of a 'human rights' organisation..” “..that perpetuates antisemitic propaganda,” Scott claimed. The Senators also referred to Amnesty International USA director saying ‘Israel’ "shouldn't exist as a Jewish state.” The director's remarks were at a Woman's National Democratic Club lunch last month. “An organization that uses its platform to undermine Israel’s sovereignty should not be receiving US taxpayer funds," Braun said. Several pro-Israel advocates have accused Amnesty of anti-Semitism and blasted its report.
