Report: UK to announce cessation of arms export to Israel
Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- The occupation state of Israel estimates that the UK will announce within a few days the termination of arms export licenses to Israel, according to Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth.
The new British Labor government has already announced that it will resume UNRWA funding and withdrawn reservations that sought to prevent the issuance of the arrest warrants of the International Criminal Court in The Hague against Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Galant.
Last April , more than 600 legal experts in the UK sent a 17-page letter to Sunak, urging him to halt British arms exports to the occupation state of Israel. The signatories include three retired UK Supreme Court judges.
The UK government is legally obliged to heed the International Court of Justice’s conclusion that there is a “plausible risk of genocide” in Gaza, the letter stated.
The expected decision of the UK to hold arms to Israel would join what the Israeli newspaper described as the “quiet and less official boycotts” by countries in Western Europe in recent months, which have stopped or delayed shipments of raw materials and parts to the defense industries in Israel, which produce weapons for the Israeli military.
The Anadolu Ajansı reported last week that although countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and the UK have announced a halt to arms sales to Israel, they continue to do so through third countries and secret deals.
