Recounting torture in detention, Israel releases Palestinian detainees from Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- At least 15 Palestinian detainees arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah city after their release by the Israeli forces at a military checkpoint east of the city on Thursday.
The detainees were arrested by Israeli forces during the ongoing aggression on Gaza since October 7 and released from the Ofer prison in a bad condition.
They recounted their torture in Israeli detention centres. They said they were beaten, deprived of food, forced to remain in harsh physical positions throughout the day, and attacked by dogs.
“They broke our hands and feet,” one of the released detainees said.
About 4,000 Palestinians have been detained from Gaza by Israel since October 2023. Most are detained and interrogated in the enclave but many are brought to the notorious Sde Teiman detention center, even if they are a non-combatant.
Torture, rape and murder have all been reported as rife at the facility, one of several facilities where Palestinians have been mistreated for decades.
