Qatar Pushes for Nuclear Inspections on Israeli Facilities

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Qatar has launched a new diplomatic effort calling for international oversight of Israel’s nuclear facilities. According to Israel’s Epoch Magazine, senior security officials believe Qatar is leading an initiative to pressure Israel into nuclear inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to the Israeli magazine, Qatar’s ambassador, Jassim Yaqoub Al-Hammadi, raised this demand during an IAEA Board of Governors meeting in Vienna on March 9. He urged global regulators to impose inspections on all Israeli nuclear sites. He also called for Israel to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as a non-nuclear state.

Israeli sources accused Qatar of coordinating with Iran to build international support for disarming Israel’s nuclear program before addressing Iran’s own nuclear activities. High-level political figures in Israel claim that this is an attempt to shift focus away from Iran’s nuclear program.

Al-Hammadi stressed that multiple international resolutions already mandate oversight of Israel’s nuclear facilities. He insisted that Israel is the only country in the region that has not joined the nuclear weapons ban treaty.

Israel has long maintained ambiguity over its nuclear program and resisted calls for international oversight. Qatar’s push may intensify global debate over nuclear transparency.

Last week, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Doha has urged the UN nuclear watchdog to bring “all of Israel’s nuclear facilities” under its supervision.
