Erekat demands British intervention in Palestinian elections in East Jerusalem
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, urged the Consul General of the united Kingdom, Philip Hall, to intervene in the Palestinian elections in occupied Jerusalem.
Erekat called on Hall to intervene to make pressure on the Israeli government to implement the arrangements for holding presidential and legislative elections in East Jerusalem, including voting, nomination and election campaigns under international monitoring and supervision.
During a meeting with the British ambassador, Erekat stated that the general elections in Palestine (East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza Strip) are an entitlement, and that returning to the will of the people and the ballot boxes is a higher national interest and the shortest way to remove the causes of division and reach a full national partnership.
An Israeli group, whose founder supported US President Donald Trump’s plan to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and was founded by soldiers and former intelligence officers, was behind last year’s flights that facilitated the travel of hundreds of Palestinians from the war-torn Strip and landed in South Africa and Indonesia, an AP investigation has found.
Israel is reportedly planning to further restrict the entry of aid into the war-torn Gaza Strip, despite the so-called ceasefire and amid an already severe humanitarian crisis after two years of genocide.
While presenting the Oscar for Best International Film, Javier Bardem began his remarks by saying, “not to war and free Palestine,” drawing a loud round of applause from the audience at the March 15 awards ceremony.
