(QNN) - Icelandic public broadcaster "RUV" will be fined because of the Palestine flags and scarves the band it entered at the Eurovision song contest displayed at the contest in "Israel" in May this year. Icelandic band Hatari held up the Palestinian colors when the final results were being announced at the contest, which was held in Tel Aviv. In a statement sent to the AFP, the European Broadcasting Union said that "Hatari" band violated rule 2.6 of the competition, which prohibits any politicizing act of the event. Thus, the Union decided to "impose a financial penalty in accordance with the rules of the competition" on the state-run Icelandic public broadcaster "RUV." They did not mention the size of the fine. Hatari "is a political, multimedia project that aims to take the lid off the relentless, unfolding scam that is everyday life," according to the description of the band on the Eurovision website. During the 2019 Eurovision, Madonna also courted controversy when her dancers carried Israeli and Palestinian flags on their costumes. This step was criticized by Israel's Minister of Culture.
