Israel Demolishes Homes in Rafah, Sends More Dead Bodies With Signs of Torture to Gaza
Gaza (QNN)- Israeli forces carried out new demolitions in Rafah on Saturday, destroying residential buildings inside the “yellow line” zone in southern Gaza. Witnesses reported powerful blasts as several homes were blown up in areas where Israel still bars residents from returning.
The latest demolitions came as the Ministry of Health announced the return of 15 Palestinian bodies. Israel handed over the bodies on Friday through the International Committee of the Red Cross. The ministry said the total number of bodies received since October 14 has now reached 330.
The transfers form part of the first stage of the prisoner-exchange deal attached to the current ceasefire. That phase saw Palestinian factions release 20 Israeli soldier prisoners alive and the remains of 27 others, according to their statements.
Medical teams in Gaza say most of the bodies arriving from Israeli custody remain unidentified. Only 97 have been identified so far. Many come without names, and some arrive with facial features and bodily markers so damaged that recognition becomes almost impossible.
With Gaza’s forensic facilities destroyed and no advanced medical tools available, identification now depends almost entirely on families. Parents and siblings search for clues in clothing fragments, scars, and any remaining marks on the bodies they examine. Many families have been searching for loved ones since the start of the war.
The Ministry of Health said its staff continue to handle every body according to established medical procedures and documentation protocols, despite the collapse of Gaza’s health system.
Before the ceasefire began, Israel held 735 Palestinian bodies, according to the National Campaign to Retrieve the Bodies of Martyrs. Many of those bodies remain missing. Israel keeps Palestinian bodies in cemeteries of numbers as a bargaining chip.
The broader toll of the war continues to rise. The government says Israel’s US-backed genocide has killed more than 69,000 Palestinians and wounded over 170,000. Around 9,500 people remain missing. Some are still believed to lie beneath destroyed homes. Others vanished with no trace, leaving families without answers.
New testimony from a top Israeli official confirms Israel misled the public for months about the Bibas family, using their deaths to shape global opinion and justify the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Qassam Barghouti says Israeli forces broke his father Marwan’s teeth and ribs, cut his ear, and crushed his fingers “for fun.” His family fears a dangerous plan to kill the jailed Palestinian leader.
