Israeli Settlers Launch Wave of Attacks Across West Bank, Injure Journalists and Civilians
Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Israeli settlers launched a series of violent attacks across the occupied West Bank on Saturday. 17 Palestinians were injured, including journalists who were covering the attacks.
In Beita, south of Nablus, settlers attacked residents and journalists near Jabal Qamas. At least five journalists suffered fractures and bruises, local sources reported. Videos from the scene showed armed settlers beating Palestinian civilians and media crews.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the assault, describing it as a war crime aimed at silencing the Palestinian press. The syndicate named the injured journalists as Ranin Sawaftah, Mohammad Al-Atrash, Louay Saeed, Nasser Ishtayeh, and Nael Bouytel.
In Tel Ma’in, east of Yatta in southern Hebron, settlers stormed the area and attacked residents. The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) said Israeli soldiers later raided the town, kidnapped several Palestinians, and beat them following the settlers’ attack.
In Jenin province, settlers attacked Palestinian homes and lands in the village of Raba under army protection. Troops entered the village at the same time, witnesses said.
Settlers also raided several villages in the northern Jordan Valley, an area that often faces repeated incursions and attacks. Residents said settlers tried to prevent shepherds from grazing and attempted to steal livestock.
UN Warns of Sharp Rise in Attacks
The United Nations said on Friday that Israeli settlers carried out at least 264 attacks against Palestinians in October, the highest monthly figure since the UN began tracking settler violence in 2006.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned of a “sharp escalation” in violence. It said the assaults, which caused deaths, injuries, and property damage, averaged eight incidents per day.
Since 2006, the UN has documented over 9,600 settler attacks, including around 1,500 in 2025 alone, roughly 15 percent of the total.
The occupied West Bank, home to around 2.7 million Palestinians, remains central to the vision of a future Palestinian state. Yet Israel continues to expand settlements rapidly, fragmenting the territory.
Israeli settlements are illegal under international law. More than 500,000 settlers now live in the occupied West Bank.
A UN commission of inquiry has concluded that Israel’s policies since October 2023 show a clear intent to forcibly displace Palestinians and expand settlements, a step toward full annexation.
Israeli attacks and settler violence in the West Bank have killed 1,066 Palestinians and injured around 10,000 since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
More than 20,000 Palestinians have been kidnapped, including 1,600 children.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said it has reached out to the International Federation of Journalists and global human rights organizations to demand urgent protection for Palestinian reporters and legal action against those responsible for the attacks.
The office warned that the growing settler violence, combined with military raids, is part of a wider campaign to expel Palestinians and crush the media’s ability to document crimes on the ground.
New testimony from a top Israeli official confirms Israel misled the public for months about the Bibas family, using their deaths to shape global opinion and justify the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Qassam Barghouti says Israeli forces broke his father Marwan’s teeth and ribs, cut his ear, and crushed his fingers “for fun.” His family fears a dangerous plan to kill the jailed Palestinian leader.
