ASAP: US-Backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Seeks to Collect Digital Data on Palestinian Population to Enable Control Over Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Coalition of Lawyers for Palestine – Switzerland (ASAP) stated that the majority of personnel within the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) are from the US military and intelligence services, warning that the foundation’s true mission is to collect digital data aimed at facilitating control over Gaza.
Majid Abu Salama, Head of the ASAP Foundation, announced in a statement on his official Facebook account, “The foundation is partnering with a security firm, Safe Reach Solutions, which is currently recruiting a substantial number of active and retired U.S. military personnel, security professionals, and visual intelligence specialists. These individuals are being contracted at a daily rate of $1,000 to facilitates the management or control of Gaza and the distribution of aid there. Contracts range from three to six months, with the possibility of renewal.”
Abu Salama further stated, “Upon arriving at aid distribution points, many of Gaza’s starving residents are confronted with a heavy presence of quadcopters, drones, and surveillance units, particularly in the Rafah area.”
He elaborated, “One of the primary objectives of the security firm is to closely monitor and study the reactions of the fatigued population, while also collecting extensive digital imagery and biometric data from a significant portion of Gaza’s residents.”
Abu Salama also noted that the firm intends to use this visual and biometric data to identify Hamas members and other resistance groups.
Abu Salama emphasized that many of the foundation’s personnel possess specialized expertise in visual intelligence analysis, frontline operations, and security fieldwork within Gaza, including efforts to prevent Palestinian fighters from accessing aid distribution sites.
He also highlighted the foundation’s legal standing, stating, “The foundation is not only registered in Switzerland, but also holds formal registrations in the United States.”
Abu Salama further added, “Just two weeks ago, our partners at Trial International submitted formal complaints against Swiss government officials tasked with overseeing the foundation’s activities, urging authorities to launch a full investigation.”
Abu Salama said the Coalition of Lawyers for Palestine – Switzerland is actively working at the highest levels to restrict the foundation’s operations, disclose additional information to safeguard humanitarian organizations affiliated with the United Nations and other international bodies, and firmly “reject any narrative that frames the Palestinian issue through a Zionist lens—one that supports ethnic cleansing and the armed suppression of Palestinians.”
He further declared, “The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation functions essentially as a military organization operating under U.S. licenses. Any official cooperation with this foundation by institutions aiming to deliver aid to Gaza would constitute a violation of humanitarian principles, international humanitarian law, and the Palestinian cause.”
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office on Monday, at least 52 starving civilians have been killed by Israeli forces near aid distribution centers operated by GHF since Israel’s new aid mechanism started operations on May 27.
The scandal-plagued organisation is a US-Israeli initiative designed to bypass the UN’s infrastructure for aid delivery and distribution in the strip.
Most humanitarian organisations, including the UN, have distanced themselves from GHF, arguing that the group violates humanitarian principles by restricting aid to south and central Gaza, requiring Palestinians to walk long distances to collect aid, and only providing limited aid, among other critiques.
Abu Salama highlighted that the ‘Floating Pier’ project off Gaza’s coast was overseen by Nathan Mook, former Executive Director of the World Central Kitchen. This initiative operates under another Swiss-registered entity, the Marine Humanitarian Aid Foundation, which is believed to be linked to the current aid distribution mechanism in Gaza.
