Gaza: Israel Deliberately Targets and Kills Police Officers on Duty
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli warplanes deliberately targeted and killed several police officers who were on duty in Al-Saray Square in Gaza City on Thursday. The Palestinian Interior Ministry in Gaza confirmed that at least 11 police officers and passersby were killed in the attack. The officers were pursuing thieves in the area, the Ministry added. The Ministry noted that the thieves and Israeli forces work hand in hand to “create chaos and spread fear among citizens”. “Despite the great sacrifices and heavy losses in the lives of members of the security and police establishment, we will not abandon our duty and will continue to protect the lives and property of citizens,” the Ministry said. Israel has been systematically attacking police members securing aid delivery and doing their work, creating a very unstable security environment and allowing armed gangs to take advantage of the situation. Last week, at Salah Adin Street near Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, aid looters, enabled and protected by Israel, opened fire on aid trucks, attempting to seize the desperately needed supplies. A group of security officers intervened to stop the attack, yet Israeli forces directed missiles at the group, killing six officers while trying to protect the aid. Gaza’s Government Media Office said, “It has become clear that the occupation army is operating in a systematic way to enable looting the aid and medicine trucks to ensure that they do not reach those who need them.”
