Clips, first shared by journalist James Jackson, show the officer punching demonstrators and pinning people to the ground. In one video, he appears to be standing on top of two protesters. Despite these scenes, the police described him as a victim of “brutal and murderous violence.”

The protest took place in Kreuzberg and drew around 1,100 participants. It marked the 77th anniversary of the Nakba — the mass expulsion and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people in 1948 to create 'Israel'.

Police arrested over 50 peaceful protesters. Several people were injured during a violent and disproportionate crackdown. Journalists were also detained for filming from elevated spots to document the police brutality.
The protest also denounced Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, which has killed over 53,000 Palestinians since October 2023, most of them women and children. The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes in Gaza.
Human rights groups and activists repeatedly stated that German authorities suppress pro-Palestine voices and misrepresent the facts.
