Israel’s Gallant Admits They Knew About the Bibas Family’s Death
Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant admitted they had early intelligence about the Bibas family’s death despite previously insisting they might be alive. Recently, on Dan Senor’s “Call Me Back” podcast, Gallant said they knew for 15 months the Bibas family were dead. He added that Yarden Bibas was armed and fighting, along with Shiri, when taken captive. He said that Israel's government had early intelligence since November 2023 that the Bibas were dead. Hamas offered to release the Bibas' bodies along with the father, Yarden, in November 2023, but Israel rejected. Shiri Bibas and her children were taken to Gaza on October 7, 2023, during the chaos that followed Al-Aqsa Flood military operation. Hamas has long maintained that an Israeli airstrike killed them early in the genocide, as Israel carpet bombed the besieged strip killing hundreds of thousands of civilians. However, the Israeli military continued to demand their release alive. Their bodies were handed over to the Red Cross as part of the first phase of the ceasefire deal. Shiri’s husband, Yarden Bibas, was also taken captive and was released earlier. Israel, without providing evidence, claims that Hamas killed the Bibas family “with their bare hands.” Israeli media amplified this narrative, backing it with another unproven claim that the family did not die in an airstrike. The Bibas family denied receiving any official confirmation about Israeli military claims that their children were beaten, suffocated, or mutilated. In a statement, they urged media outlets to stop spreading unverified claims about the deaths of Shiri Bibas and her two sons, Kfir and Ariel. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, speaking on behalf of the family, stated: “Any publication of details, including references to the treatment of the bodies, is against the family’s wishes.” Meanwhile, the Bibas family has expressed their deep pain, stating that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has not apologized for the loss of their loved ones. They declared that they would never forgive the abandonment of their family on October 7 or during their captivity. The family stressed that Israel’s responsibility was to return the Bibas family members alive.
