Israel Targets Children Playing in Al-Shati Refugee Camp, Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- On Sunday evening, an Israeli airstrike targeted a group of children under the age of ten playing in Al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza, killing and injuring several. At least five children were killed in the attack.
This crime was committed as Israel continues its military attacks in northern Gaza, which has entered its 373rd day. The Israeli military is reported to be intensifying its siege of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia, aiming to forcibly displace the Palestinian population in accordance with the so-called "Generals' Plan." The army has constructed barricades to isolate Gaza City from the north and has demolished dozens of homes in Jabalia using explosive robots, leaving behind dozens of casualties.
Israeli forces have ramped up their air, ground, and naval assaults across Gaza. Over the past 24 hours alone, dozens of Palestinians have been killed or wounded in airstrikes. Rescue teams are facing difficulties retrieving over 75 bodies, part of the 285 fatalities recorded in the last eight days, as Israeli forces are reportedly blocking ambulance and civil defense teams from reaching the dead and injured.
Gaza's Ministry of Health confirmed that the siege on northern Gaza has persisted for nine days, leaving many civilians trapped under rubble or in the streets, unable to receive medical assistance. The ministry also stated that Israeli forces are preventing blood units from southern Gaza from reaching hospitals in the north. However, a limited amount of fuel was successfully delivered to Kamal Adwan Hospital after multiple attempts.
Northern Gaza hospitals are still under siege, and the Ministry of Health has issued a warning that this ongoing blockade poses a severe threat to patients' lives. Meanwhile, Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza has appealed for urgent blood donations to save the injured.
Over the past 24 hours, Gaza hospitals have admitted 52 victims and 128 injured civilians. Among them were patients and injured people transferred from Kamal Adwan Hospital to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that since the genocide began on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached 42,227, with 98,464 injured. In its daily report, the ministry stated that Israeli forces committed four massacres against civilian families in the last 24 hours, adding that rescue teams are still unable to access several victims trapped under rubble.
An Israeli group, whose founder supported US President Donald Trump’s plan to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and was founded by soldiers and former intelligence officers, was behind last year’s flights that facilitated the travel of hundreds of Palestinians from the war-torn Strip and landed in South Africa and Indonesia, an AP investigation has found.
Israel is reportedly planning to further restrict the entry of aid into the war-torn Gaza Strip, despite the so-called ceasefire and amid an already severe humanitarian crisis after two years of genocide.
While presenting the Oscar for Best International Film, Javier Bardem began his remarks by saying, “not to war and free Palestine,” drawing a loud round of applause from the audience at the March 15 awards ceremony.
