Israel exposes US participation in attack on Lebanon from Jordan, but US Official Denies Involvement
Amman (Quds News Network)- Israel has announced that the United States participated in an early Sunday morning offensive on Lebanon, coordinated from Jordan. According to an Israeli military spokesperson, the operation was conducted in close coordination with the US military, with the Chief of the US Armed Forces arriving in Jordan just a day before the attack.
This claim comes after a meeting on Saturday in Amman between Jordan’s Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Al-Huneiti, and US Air Force General Charles Q. Brown. The Jordanian military released a statement confirming that the discussions 'focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two nations', addressing regional and international developments to support the armed forces' interests.
However, speaking to CNN an American official denied that the United States was involved in the airstrikes conducted by Israel in Lebanon. The official added that, while the US assisted Israel in tracking Hezbollah's movements on the same day, it did not directly participate in the military strikes.
Jordan has signed a defense cooperation agreement in January 2021, which granted the US extensive military privileges in Jordan's military bases. The two countries have a long-standing relationship, solidified by a memorandum of understanding in September 2022, promising Jordan $1.45 billion in annual financial aid from 2023 to 2029.

Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing an unnamed source, that the US administration is also demanding the ICC shelve investigations of Israeli leaders over the Gaza genocide and end an investigation into war crimes conducted by US troops in Afghanistan.
