UN investigating information on mistreatment of Palestinian detainees by Israeli forces
Geneva (Quds News Network) – Alice Jill Edwards, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, has announced that she is examining information concerning reports of torture and mistreatment of Palestinian detainees by Israeli occupation forces.
Speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of the United Nations Human Rights Council meetings in Geneva on Friday, Edwards stated that she has recently received reports of torture and mistreatment of Palestinian detainees in the West Bank or during the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
She added, "I am currently examining and conducting an investigation to uncover the facts."
The Human Rights Office reported multiple accounts of mass arrests, mistreatment, and enforced disappearances of Palestinians in northern Gaza by the Israeli occupation forces, with thousands being detained in the West Bank.
In Gaza, winter kills quietly. Babies shiver, stop breathing, and die in tents too cold to survive. These deaths are not accidents; they are preventable tragedies unfolding in slow motion. How does it feel like dying from cold?
At least seven infants have died this winter in Gaza. Displaced babies freeze in soaked tents as Israel’s blockade blocks essential aid.
This is how Israel is freezing Gaza’s babies to death.
Following the announcement of the transition to phase two, Israel has carried out attacks across the Gaza Strip, killing more than 10 Palestinians on Thursday.
