2023 records highest number of Palestinian casualties since 1948
Ramallah (Quds News Network) - The year 2023 recorded the highest number of Palestinian casualties as a result of Israeli brutality since the 1948 Nakba, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced in a press statement yesterday.
According to the statement, as of the last day of 2023, there have been 22,404 casualties in Palestine this year, with 22,141 casualties recorded since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7.
The report highlighted that a staggering 98% of the casualties recorded in 2023 were from the Gaza Strip, including nearly 9,000 children and 6,450 women.
In the West Bank, the PCBS recorded 319 casualties, including 111 children and 4 women. Shockingly, more than 100 journalists were among the casualties, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health records.
The statement further revealed that by the end of 2023, over 7,000 individuals were reported missing, with 67% being children and women. Additionally, approximately 1.9 million citizens were displaced within the Gaza Strip away from their homes.
