‘Israel’ issued 260 administrative detention orders against Palestinians in January, says watchdog
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israeli occupation authorities issued 260 administrative detention orders against Palestinians in the first month of the new year, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ Affairs said on Thursday.
In January alone, the Commission said, Israeli occupation authorities issued 260 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, including 103 new orders and 157 renewal orders.
The Commission noted that there are currently about 860 administrative detainees mostly held in Israel’s Ofer, Al-Naqab, and Megiddo prisons, including seven children and one female.
According to Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups, since March 2002, the number of Palestinians in administrative detention has never fallen below 100. In 2015 alone, ‘Israel’ issued 1248 administrative detention orders.
In 2020, ‘Israel’ issued 1,114 administrative detention orders while it issued 1,595 administrative detention orders against the Palestinians in 2021.
In 2022, Israeli occupation authorities issued 2409 administrative detention orders against Palestinians.
