Hebron (QNN) - Israeli settlers took over today a shop in the heart of the old section of Hebron, in the south of the West Bank, owned by the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, according to a Palestinian official. The shop, located near the closed market area in Hebron’s old section, which remained under full Israeli military control known as H2, was leased by the Ministry to a local resident, according to Tawfik Jahshan, head of the legal department of the Hebron Reconstruction Committee. He said the settlers closed the door to the shop, located near the illegal settlement of Abraham Avino, and changed its façade prompting the person who leased the shop to file a complaint through the Hebron Reconstruction Committee with the Israeli police responsible for the old section of Hebron. However, added Jahshan, the police kept stalling and making false claims to prevent the tenant and committee from filing a complaint. He said the committee will continue with the legal process to get the shop back.
