PPS: ‘Israel’ moves 37-day-hunger-striking Palestinian detainee to Ramla priosn clinic
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- ‘Israel’ transferred on Thursday 37-day-hunger-striking Palestinian administrative detainee Khalil Awawdeh to the Ramla Prison Clinic.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said ‘Israel’ moved Awawdeh to the Ramla Prison Clinic on Thursday due to deterioration of his health condition.
The PPS also warned against Israel’s move as the infamous Ramla Prison Clinic lacks specialists and adequate medical supplies.
Moreover, the PPS holds the occupation authorities full responsibility for Awawdeh’s life.
Awawdeh has been on an open-ended hunger strike since March 3, in protest of his unfair administrative detention without a charge or trial by ‘Israel’.
‘Israel’ detained Awawdeh, a 40-year-old resident of the southern occupied city of Hebron, on December 27, 2021.
It was holding Awawdeh at the Ofer prison, in western Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
According to family sources, Khalil is only drinking water to stay alive and he is also not eating anything, as a part of his open-ended strike. He has not taken any medical supplies.
Moreover, Awawdeh has previously spent a total of 12 years in Israeli prisons for resisting the occupation. The 12 years included 5 years of administrative detention.
‘Israel’ released him on June 30, 2016. He is married and a father of four girl children.
He claimed that the US “maintained the Gaza ceasefire, delivered record levels of humanitarian aid” and that “you don’t hear” about Palestinians in Gaza starving anymore.
Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has approved the issuance of gun licenses to Israeli settlers in 18 illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, amid a surge in settler violence against Palestinians.
