Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Far-right Israeli MK Itamar Ben-Gvir has stormed East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, earlier on Sunday, moving his office amid high tensions. Local sources said that dozens of extremist Israeli settlers, backed by forces, stormed the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah earlier today. Hours later, Ben-Gvir stormed the neighborhood with dozens of settlers to open a makeshift office there, after announcing yesterday night that he’s considering moving the office to the neighborhood. https://twitter.com/qudsnen/status/1492784404611149825?s=21 Local sources said the occupation forces and settlers have attacked the residents, activists and journalists there, by spraying pepper gas and beating them. https://twitter.com/qudsnen/status/1492795831925325825?s=21 The settlers also have set up a tent on the lands of the Salem family who are facing Israel’s threat of forced displacement of their home in the neighborhood. https://twitter.com/qudsnen/status/1492792045110538246?s=21 Last night, a group of Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli forces, stormed the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and assaulted residents and their homes. Local sources said dozens of Israeli settlers, under the occupation forces’ protection, attacked residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and threw stones at their homes and objects. The settlers also smashed the windows of several of the residents’ vehicles. The occupation forces also attacked the residents, including the family of Salem, by spraying pepper gas in their faces and firing sound bombs, tear gas canisters, and rubber-coated metal bullets, resulting in the suffocation of some of them while others sustained burns, including elderly people, women and children. Some of the youths were also injured by sound bombs shrapnel. This came hours after Ben-Gvir announced that he’s considering opening a makeshift office in the neighborhood, claiming such a move came in solidarity with the settlers there and to decry the lack of police protection that they receive. Sheikh Jarrah has been cited as one of the most issues that sparked attention and condemnation around the world, as several countries slammed Israeli occupation forces and settlers violence against Palestinians in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood and Israeli forced displacement of families from their homes as dozens of Palestinians are facing imminent forced displacement from their homes, in a move to force them out and replace it entirely with an Israeli settlement.
