Israeli authorities notify evacuation of 2 houses, land plot in Sheikh Jarrah
Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Israeli forces on Monday notified the evacuation of two houses and a land plot in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, owned by the Salihiyyeh family.
The Israeli municipality of occupied Jerusalem handed over an evacuation order to Mahmoud Salihiyyeh to evacuate his family's two houses and gave them until January 25. The evacuation order cited "public good and the construction of schools" as a pretext to steal the houses and land plot.
Salihiyyeh said the area of the land plot is 6 dunums and it was bought by his father in 1967, however, two years ago Israeli authorities decided to confiscate it under the pretext of the public good.
Salihiyyeh said that his family and his sister's family in addition to their mother (12 members) live in the two houses. He added that Israeli authorities tried to convince him of signing a document, which makes him a tenant of his house but he rejected that.
"I was displaced once and I will not be displaced again", he said. "I will never sign any papers by the occupation or leave my house, in which I've been living since 1988, except to my grave."
