Journalist faces smear campaign over participating in pro-Palestine march in Berlin
Berlin (QNN)- A Palestinian journalist and TV host has been facing a smear campaign and accusations of anti-semitisim over participating in a pro-Palestine march in Berlin in 2014.
28-year old Palestinian journalist and activist Nemi El-Hassan has been facing accusations of anti-semitism over participating in Al-Quds Day march in Berlin in 2014 when she was 19 years old.
The Al-Quds Day or Jerusalem Day was initiated in 1979 by the then Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini to denounce Israel's 1968 occupation of Jerusalem and express solidarity with Palestinian people. This day is an official holiday in Iran and held each year on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan to remember the Palestinians.
In 2014, in the light of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, when 'Israel' killed 2,251 people, and wounded more than 11,000, Nemi participated in Al-Quds Day march which aimed to show solidarity with the Palestinians that time.
The smear campaign against Nemi was led by the infamous pro-Israel Bild newspaper followed by massive incitement campaign from zionists, pro-Israel, right wing-AFD supporters and others using the hashtag #Nemi_El_Hassan.
Nemi is a TV host at WDR, the largest German television and radio broadcaster, who has also decided on Tuesday, September 14, to suspend her program, "Quarks", until allegations are clarified.

In an interview with a Germany-based news website, "Spiegel", published on Wednesday, el-Hassan said, "I haven't been to an Al-Kuds demonstrations since 2014. I don't hate Israel."
"Today I am saying very clearly that this demonstrations was definitely the wrong means," said the journalist.
"I didn't realize that these demonstrations were brought into being by the Iranian regime," Nemi said.
Israel’s approval of 764 new West Bank settlement units marks another major expansion under Netanyahu, tightening control over Palestinian land and eroding hopes for a political agreement.
Logan said he doesn't think "Israel should be allowed to hide under the umbrella of the Eurovision," adding that he was "proud" of the broadcaster making the "right decision."
In the September 17-18, 2024 attacks on Lebanon, Israel detonated thousands of handheld pagers and walkie-talkies in public places, killing dozens including women and children and injuring nearly 3,000, according to the Lebanese government.
