On the World Press Freedom Day.. Israel kills 2 journalists and commits 266 violations
Ramallah (QNN)- On the World Press Freedom Day, numbers show increase in the Israeli violations against journalists.
Israel have killed two journalists last year; Yaser Murtaja (30 years old) and Ahmad Abu Hussain (25 years old), while injured 20 others with live or expanding bullets, causing bones to be broken or lacerated, in addition to one amputation.
Statistics show that 19 other journalists were injured by tear gas canisters directly thrown at them by Israeli soldiers, causing broken bones, while 44 others were suffocated and treated in the field. 25 journalists meanwhile, have been arrested on the basis of journalists' work.
The European Union quickly agreed to expand sanctions on Iran over measures it took following the US-Israeli war, but failed to reach consensus on suspending its trade agreement with Israel despite growing pressure from several member states and human rights groups.
Over 1,100 musicians and cultural figures, including Kneecap, Massive Attack, and Paloma Faith, have called for a boycott of Eurovision 2026, demanding Israel be excluded over its ongoing genocide in Gaza and condemning the European Broadcasting Union of double standards.
