Users leaving WhatsApp to Telegram and Signal in droves following new terms of service
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Users continued to leave WhatsApp in drove over the application's new terms of service, increasing users in Telegram and Signal.
Signal and Telegram messaging apps are seeing a sudden increase in demand after larger rival WhatsApp’s updated terms of service raised eyebrows on social media.
According to data analytics firm Sensor Tower, more than 100000 users installed Signal across the app stores of Apple and Google in the last two days, while Telegram picked up nearly 2.2 million downloads.
For a couple of weeks, users of the WhatsApp application have been notified of changes in the terms and conditions of use and privacy and of security policies from February 8.
The previous circumstance has unleashed criticism on social networks and many people have questioned how the messaging app captures information or data from users.
The new terms require users to agree to share their personal information with Facebook or lose access to their account.
The mandatory changes are set to take effect on February 8, 2021 and if users don’t accept the new privacy policy before that, they will no longer be able to use the service.
Nearly half of the journalists killed in 2025 died in Israeli attacks on Gaza, RSF says, warning of a global spike in targeted violence against the press.
The Office said about 386 civilians have been killed and 980 others injured in the violations, with children, women and the elderly accounting for the majority of the victims.
