In a statement released on Sunday, Borrell said that any settlement construction will cause "serious damage to the prospects for a viable and contiguous Palestinian State."
He also added, "The Government of Israel should instead show vision and responsibility and reverse these negative decisions at this critical and sensitive time."
Borrell stated that the EU has repeatedly called on the occupation state to end all settlement activity and insisted on the "EU’s firm position that settlements are illegal under international law."
Israeli authorities have advanced plans to construct settlement units in the illegal settlement of Givat HaMatos in South Jerusalem as the Israeli Land Authority announced on its website on Sunday.
Israel’s approval of 764 new West Bank settlement units marks another major expansion under Netanyahu, tightening control over Palestinian land and eroding hopes for a political agreement.
Logan said he doesn't think "Israel should be allowed to hide under the umbrella of the Eurovision," adding that he was "proud" of the broadcaster making the "right decision."
In the September 17-18, 2024 attacks on Lebanon, Israel detonated thousands of handheld pagers and walkie-talkies in public places, killing dozens including women and children and injuring nearly 3,000, according to the Lebanese government.
