Nablus (QNN)- Guards of the illegal settlement of Yitzhar attacked Palestinian farmers, ho were working in their fields in the village of Asira al-Qibliya in southern Nablus yesterday.
The farmer Bahaa Ahmad told QNN that the guards accompanied by Israeli soldiers prevented a farmer from plowing his land in the east of the village before they summoned an Israeli force that repressed locals and other farmers.
Bahaa Ahmad added that a guard has beaten one of the farmers, wounding him. The farmer was taken to a near hospital.
The village is located in the area classified as area "B" according to the Oslo Accords, which means that the Israeli army and settlers are not allowed to be involved in any activity inside it.
During the last two weeks, locals have organized land reclamation activities in the village but the Israeli army repressed them and prevented them from working in their lands.
The illegal settlement of Yitzhar was built on the Salman Al Farisi mount, grabbing lands from the villages of Burin, Madama, Asira al-Qibliya, Urif, Einabus, and Huwarah. Its settlers carry out daily attacks on the locals of near villages.
Israel’s approval of 764 new West Bank settlement units marks another major expansion under Netanyahu, tightening control over Palestinian land and eroding hopes for a political agreement.
