South Africans demonstrate against UAE-Israel agreement, for release of human rights defender Nawajaa
Johannesburg (QNN)- Dozens of South Africans and supporters of Palestine demonstrated outside the Israeli embassy in Johannesburg yesterday against the normalization agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and demanding release from Israeli custody of Palestinian human rights defender Mahmoud Nawajaa.
The protest, organized by Africa4Palestine and other South African organizations, condemned the US-sponsored UAE- Israel agreement reached on Thursday and demanding the immediate release of Nawajaa, coordinator of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, who was detained by Israel last month for his role in the boycott movement and for defending human rights of Palestinians under Israeli occupation.

He claimed that the US “maintained the Gaza ceasefire, delivered record levels of humanitarian aid” and that “you don’t hear” about Palestinians in Gaza starving anymore.
Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has approved the issuance of gun licenses to Israeli settlers in 18 illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, amid a surge in settler violence against Palestinians.
