NGO: 18% of Gaza prisoner in Israeli jails suffer from chronic diseases
Gaza (QNN)- The Committee of Prisoners and Former Prisoners in southern Palestine said 18% of Gazan prisoners in Israeli jails suffer from chronic diseases like cancers, heart to kidney diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, or other diseases.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the committee added that patient prisoners are being subjected to heinous violations that go against international law and conventions; like being denied their rights to medical care and protection against infectious and dangerous diseases.
The Assistant Undersecretary of the head of the Committee of Public Assistant Administrations in Southern governorates, Bassam Majdalawi, said the prisoners suffer from the lack of periodic check-ups, medications, and surgeries.
The Committee called on international and local humanitarian organizations to put pressure on the occupation state to save the lives of patient prisoners in Israeli jails and comply with the third and fourth Geneva conventions.
