Minnesota (QNN)- Mahmoud 'Mike' Abumayyaleh, the Palestinian owner of Cup Foods whose employees called police about George Floyd, condemned police brutality and reiterated his shop's support for the protests. In a Facebook post that he posted on Sunday, Abumayyaleh extended his shop's deepest condolences to George Floyd’s family, friends and the South Minneapolis community. He also explained that according to a state policy, stores should call the police in the case of counterfeit bills. "Upon receiving a counterfeit bill from George Floyd, one of our employees called the police in accordance with this procedure", according to the post. "The owner of Cup Foods, Mahmoud Abumayyaleh, was not present in the store at the time." "Four officers showed up to the scene, and they proceeded to escalate the situation with increased use of violence and force." The post stressed that the nephew of Abymayyaleh was yelling for the police officers to stop, and was pushed away by one of the cops. The post stated that it has been in contact with Floyd’s family and that it has been supporting the protests across the country, demanding justice for Floyd and also to end police brutality. Abumayyaleh announced that his shop will no longer follow procedure as it would put people in danger. "Until the police stop killing innocent people, we will handle incidents like this one using non-violent tactics that do not involve police.
