Occupied West Bank (QNN)- The Ministry of Telecom and Information Technology said Wednesday that Amazon will now be shipping to customers in the occupied Palestinian territories for free, reversing a previous policy of charging Palestinians in the West Bank unless they choose 'Israel' as their address instead of Palestine. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry stated that this comes as an early response after legal actions were taken by the Ministry of Telecom and Information Technology, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Finance, the Universal Postal Union and others, against Amazon over its discrimination policy that favors illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories over the indigenous Palestinian population. Last month, a Financial Times report revealed that Amazon was delivering free to Israeli illegal settlements while charging Palestinian customers for the same services. The report said that Palestinians who select their address as being in Israel get free shipping from the company. Palestinians who select their address as being in the “Palestinian territories” when placing orders can expect to pay $24 or more There was no comment from Amazon on the report.
