Pro-Palestine march in NYC calls for end to Israeli genocide in Gaza

New York (Quds News Network) – On Martin Luther King Jr Day, nearly a thousand people gathered in New York City for a pro-Palestine march, demanding an immediate end to Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza and advocating for healthcare support.

Organized by Within Our Lifetime (WOL), the demonstrators conveyed a powerful message, urging an end to the Israeli war off genocide, cessation of all US aid to Israel, and the lifting of the siege on Gaza to prevent a healthcare system collapse.

The death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 24,000 since the commencement of Israel’s latest attacks, with over 8,000 people still missing in the region, including more than 10,400 children. Additionally, at least 60,317 individuals have been wounded, facing challenges in obtaining proper healthcare treatment for their injuries.

Airstrikes carried out yesterday by Israeli occupation forces claimed the lives of at least 33 Palestinians, further fueling global protests against the ongoing Israeli genocide campaign. In Vermont, 50 protestors blocked entrances to a weapons manufacturing complex, demanding a US government call for a ceasefire and an end to arming the Israeli army.

In New York City, protesters, donned in white coats and medical attire, made their way to the United Nations headquarters and Gracie Mansion, the residence of the city’s mayor. Chanting slogans like “Free, free Palestine” and “We are all Palestinian,” they held posters bearing the names of healthcare workers killed by Israeli strikes.

Despite global demonstrations, criticism mounted against New York City Mayor Eric Adams and US President Joe Biden for not explicitly mentioning Palestine in their statements on the 100 days of war. Mayor Adams focused on the impact on Israelis and hostages without acknowledging Palestinian casualties, drawing public scrutiny.

Over the weekend, Washington DC witnessed one of the largest pro-Palestine demonstrations in the US since the October attacks led by Hamas. The global day of rallies saw similar marches in cities like London, Rome, and Johannesburg.

The Biden administration’s continued support for Israel’s campaign in Gaza, its bypassing of congressional review to send military aid, and the vetoing of a UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire have sparked criticism amid the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
