Pro-Israel Figures Threaten to Kill Greta Thunberg Over Gaza Aid Mission

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Climate activist Greta Thunberg is facing a wave of violent threats by pro-genocide individuals after joining a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. Pro-Israel figures have called for her death or harm as she sails to challenge Israel’s siege on the devastated territory.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham posted on X: “Hope Greta and her friends can swim!”

Will Chamberlain, senior counsel at Article3Project, added: “The Israelis could do the funniest thing.”

Israeli lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky, known for supporting the Gaza genocide, wrote: “Oh look, the little jihadi Greta Thunberg is trying to get into Gaza… It would be so sad if something were to happen to her flotilla…”

Activists and rights groups say these statements amount to open incitement.

Thunberg, 21, departed from Sicily on Sunday aboard the Madleen, a sailing boat operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. She is joined by 11 other activists, including Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham and French-Palestinian MEP Rima Hassan. The goal is to break Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to people, who Israel has been starving for three months.

Speaking through tears before departure, Thunberg said:
“No matter what odds we are against, we have to keep trying. Because the moment we stop trying is when we lose our humanity. This mission is dangerous, but silence in the face of genocide is far more dangerous.”

Her comments follow the bombing of another flotilla boat, the Conscience, on May 2. The vessel was struck by Israeli drones in international waters near Malta. Israel has previously killed civilians on Gaza-bound aid ships, including in the deadly Mavi Marmara raid in 2010.

Israel has tightened restrictions on Gaza for nearly 19 months. Humanitarian organisations confirm that Israel is starving the population by blocking aid, bombing convoys, and allowing looting by armed gangs.

The Madleen crew says the journey could take up to seven days—if they are not attacked.

“We are breaking the siege of Gaza by sea,” said Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila, “but we are also preparing for land mobilisations, including a march from Egypt to Rafah in mid-June.”

Online threats against Thunberg have drawn strong condemnation. Activists say public figures calling for her death reflect the danger of Israel’s supporters.
