Israel’s Reaction to Mamdani’s Victory: A Self-Indictment
By Mohamad Alqeeq
Israel’s furious reaction to Zohran Mamdani’s electoral victory reveals more about its own insecurity than about the candidate himself.
By attacking Mamdani’s win, Israeli officials and their supporters have insulted the very people who voted for him; New Yorkers exercising their democratic right. Their response suggests that American voters, especially those who support justice for Palestinians, are being unfairly accused of backing terrorism or being unqualified to choose their representatives.
Israeli leaders went further by labeling Mamdani an antisemite simply because he supports the implementation of international law. In doing so, they effectively indicted themselves, equating respect for international law with antisemitism. This exposes a deep contradiction within Israel’s political discourse, where any call for accountability or adherence to global norms is twisted into an attack on Jewish identity.
Israel now finds itself in a widening crisis, confronted not only by the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice but also by growing dissent from political leaders and influential figures around the world. Its narrative is collapsing under the weight of truth and accountability. The backlash against its aggression and attempts to silence critics is spreading, reaching global audiences and even resonating across the Arab world as a reaction to its continued oppression.
A new wave of awareness is sweeping through international society, dismantling Israel’s long-standing propaganda and exposing the cracks in its carefully constructed narrative.
