Which Countries Do Not Recognise Palestine as a State?
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- France, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Andorra and Belgium formally recognised a Palestinian state at the 80th session of the General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday. They join Canada, Australia and Portugal, as well as the UK, which announced its recognition on Sunday. The declarations by major Western powers, long considered close allies of Israel, come amid the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, where over 65,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, when Israel launched its assault. In 2024, nine countries – Armenia, Slovenia, Ireland, Norway, Spain, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Barbados – formally recognised the State of Palestine. Currently, 157 UN member states recognise the State of Palestine, as does the Holy See, the governing body of the Catholic Church and Vatican City, which holds UN observer status.
