Poll: 94% of Palestinians in 1948-occupied territories subjected to racism

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- More than 90 percent of the Palestinians living in the 1948 Israeli-occupied territories have experienced racism and discrimination.

A survey has found that 94 percent of the Palestinians have experienced racist labeling, the Israeli daily Maariv reported.

The Israeli Racism Crisis Center (RCC) is the one who conducted the survey.

It published it on the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21.

The results showed 69 percent of the respondents believe they were subject to racism and discrimination in public places.

However, 41 percent said they had a similar experience in academic institutions.

The survey found that most cases of discrimination occurred at airports, followed by academic institutions, workplaces, and malls and shopping centers.

More than 65 percent of the respondents said their identification cards were checked in public places.

The security guards also subjected 59 percent of the respondents to security inspection.

They also forced 58 percent to answer unusual questions.

75% felt that these measures affected their dignity, and 73% said it affected their personal security.

The poll also revealed that 67% of the respondents refrained from applying for jobs due to racism and discrimination.

The director of the RCC, Samah Darwish, said that results of the survey illustrated the extent of racism in the occupied territories.

“This should concern everyone.”
