PLO official demands immediate release of Palestinian prisoner with COVID-19
Ramallah (QNN) – Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)’s Executive Committee, Saeb Erekat, has urged for the immediate release of Mohammad Majed Hassan, a Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails who was diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19).
Erekat said in a tweet that the continued detention of Hasan by Israeli occupation authorities was a blatant violation of Israel’s “obligations under international humanitarian law. We hold Israel fully responsible for his life and demand his immediate release.”
Over 15,000 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the occupying state Israel ever since the start of the pandemic in the country in February. Palestinian leaders have been calling for the immediate release of prisoners in Israeli detention to save their lives in light of the widely spread pandemic.
